This issue of the Caucasus Analytical Digest tries to address this gap by examining relevant Turkish societal actors active in the region, such as diasporas and non-governmental organizations. The first article considers the case of Armenia, where, in the absence of diplomatic relations with Turkey, non-governmental organizations from both sides have played a key role in developing cross-border ties. The three other articles focus on Turkey’s Azeri, Abkhaz and Georgian diasporas, analyzing their visibility in the respective "homelands," as well as their impact on Turkey’s relationships with the latter.
