This edition considers Russia’s relations with the Balkans. Firstly, Dimitar Bechev considers Russia’s influence across Southeast Europe, noting that while Moscow is able to draw on historical and pragmatic connections to these countries, it is not in a positon to roll back EU and NATO influence in the region. Secondly, Branislav Radeljić examines the Russia-Serbia relationship, arguing that Moscow’s consistent support for Belgrade’s position on Kosovo is driven primarily by the Kremlin’s interest in strengthening its own position in European affairs.
