This paper explores the debate over restructuring electricity industry in the US. The author argues that competitive prices and privatization continue to shape the international electric market. He states that while states are committing to competitiveness, federal regulations and Congress could still stand to affect industry and company profitability. The author states that evolving energy industry continues to focus on a range of public policy priorities, such as mergers and acquisitions, the development of tax subsidies and initiatives to address environmental and global climate change issues.
