This paper reviews the long-term energy outlook for Asia, excluding Japan. It uses three global case studies to indicate potential energy outcomes over a range of economic growth, supply availability and environmental conditions. The author highlights major global energy trends until 2020, explores energy issues in both India and China and their implications on Asia's energy outlook. It concludes with a list of possible subjects for Japanese-US energy cooperation.
