This report reflects on the past year’s efforts to repair the US–Pakistan relationship and how a new American administration, key pieces of legislation, and shifting Pakistani domestic politics have brought a new dynamic. The author argues that the US will achieve best results by helping Pakistan help itself to effectively undermine the militant extremists’ influence and activities in the country, and the region.
