The United Nations and the Security Council in particular, have the primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security. However, the changing nature of global threats and increasing demands for intervention in diverse crisis scenarios have led to the recognition that the UN security architecture needs to be restructured and its operational capabilities enhanced. This collection of essays discuss the role that Italy and the European Union can play in this reform.
