This paper examines the Chinese concept of the New Silk Road, which differs from the Western concept. It is important to understand China’s own historic narrative in order to gauge China’s intentions and strategy on the New Silk Road across Eurasia. Without this, the US and NATO could miscalculate China’s motives and the actions they inspire, to the detriment of the West’s standing vis‐à‐vis China.
