This paper discusses China's new proactive diplomacy in the Middle East, in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. While analyzing China's strategic interest, the author underlines the fact that the Middle East is first and foremost a region of energy resources to feed Chinese growing economy, which is vital for Chinese Communist Party legitimacy and survival. In this respect, the author also touches upon the policy tools that China uses to further its interests and the implications of China's policy for US interests from 2014 to 2030.
