This paper discusses the history, challenges and deficiencies of the EU-NATO security architecture. The authors assess the role each actor plays in the security environment and examine the limits and opportunities for cooperation between NATO and the EU. Furthermore, they outline the commitments that need to be made on both sides of the Atlantic to realize the necessary revision of the trans-Atlantic security architecture. Finally, they argue that an extensive diplomatic campaign will be required if this transformation is to have a solid foundation.
