This brief looks at China's foreign policy and domestic strategy after the 2012 leadership change. It examines China's main challenges which include an unsustainable development model as well as Beijing's internal nationalist rhetoric which impacts on foreign policy and relations and concludes with three alternative future scenarios for the country.
