This special issue of "Perspectives on Terrorism" sheds light on a number of under-investigated topics in terrorism studies. These include the long-term effects of involvement in terrorist violence on those who have retired from active participation in terrorism as well as the ways terrorists innovate, and how they adapt (or not) to changing conditions. In addition, this issue draws attention to the different organizational models of terrorist groups and their methods.
