This paper focuses on Israel's apology to Turkey for the killing of eight Turkish nationals and one Turkish American during the Gaza Flotilla raid in May 2010 by Israeli forces. The authors claim that Syria, regional geopolitics and US relations all converged to lead to political alignment between the two, but that above all else, Eastern Mediterranean energy contributed to the breakthrough. They also suggest that even though Turkish-Israeli rapprochement has been reached, it need not mean an end to the Israeli-Cypriot partnership.
