This report looks at the trends that will have an impact on Europe's future up to 2030. These include: reaction to the economic crisis; the rapid empowerment of individuals thanks to the growth of information technology; the reality of climate change; the diffusion of power across the globe; and demographic changes. The author argues that the greatest near- to medium-term opportunity for Europe and transatlantic relations is the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). Such a treaty would reinvigorate transatlantic relations, bring new momentum to the Transatlantic TTIP, and sharpen the strategic choices regarding Russia.
