This publication talks about the consequences of the agreement between the United States and Russia to bring Syrian chemical weapons under international control, made on 13 September 2013. Following the US-Russian deal, the author writes, the Syrian crisis will become dominated by existing regional trends once more. The main unresolved issue in this regard is the role of Iran and its strained relationship with the United States. The author additionally argues that within Syria, the agreement has devastated the moral of the opposition forces.
