This commentary examines the achievements and shortcomings of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration processes used by Colombia to bring members of armed insurgency and paramilitary groups back into civilian life. It also examines the continuing violence within Colombia related to such groups as well as the armed groups which have emerged following the demobilization of the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia.
