This paper discusses socio-economic dynamics in Algeria and regional security developments in North Africa since the Arab uprisings of 2011. The first part discusses the Algerian government's need to diversify its economy and encourage growth in new sectors in the face of domestic socio-economic and political challenges. The second part focuses on security dynamics in North Africa since the Arab uprisings and Algeria’s regional security role and strategy.
