This paper discusses the potential impact gas findings in the South-Eastern Mediterranean (SEM) could have on Turkey-Israel-Cyprus relations. After a brief overview of Turkey’s potential role as a market to and transportation route for the SEM resources, the author outlines how the reserves could provide a new impetus to restore diplomatic relations between the three states. He also argues that although diplomatic talks seem to have been accelerated by the prospect of energy cooperation, there remain significant obstacles to a long-term political and economic partnership between the three states.
