This commentary discusses the foreign policy challenges which the next government of India will face following the country's national elections in May 2014. The author believes that as well as the priority of restoring closer ties with the US, Delhi will have to deal with three other specific challenges in the Middle East. These are 1) the controversy surrounding the Iranian nuclear program, 2) the emergence of Saudi Arabia as the third wheel in Indo-Iranian relations, and 3) the ongoing tensions between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which are potentially harmful to India.
