This paper provides an overview of the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade and investment agreement under negotiation between the United States and certain Latin American and Asia-Pacific countries. It also outlines how the potential signatories to the TPP could attempt to resolve their competing economic and security interests to promote trade in the Asia-Pacific and to ensure that US and Latin America benefit from the partnership.
