This issue of "Perspectives on Terrorism" features four articles on 1) the pluses and minuses of terrorist groups allying with each other; 2) How these groups use violence to support their political wings in general elections; 3) the role sympathetic, supportive communities plays in preserving a terrorist network’s durability; and 4) the role of terrorist financing in sustaining the conflict in Syria. The issue additionally includes case studies on homegrown jihadist groups in the Netherlands, Germany and Australia, and on the backgrounds of Dutch jihadists fighting in Syria.
