This brief analyzes the results of a recent war game that featured limited US operations against ISIS. The game’s overall conclusion, at least for the near-term, is that airstrikes and other measures will contain the jihadist group, but the latter will also continue to control a large portion of the Syrian and Iraqi borderlands, which means it will remain a threat both to its neighbors and the West. (Note: The Atlantic Council staged the game in September 2014.)
