Jan 2015

Following the deadly attacks on the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo on January 7 2015, this publication provides an assessment of the jihadist landscape in France. The author argues that Islamist extremism in France is indeed “homegrown” and that jihadist networks in Western Europe develop and grow largely independently of wider networks such as al-Qaeda or the so-called Islamic State.
