This publication examines how emerging technologies - such as smartphones, unmanned autonomous vehicles or robots – will be used in the agriculture sector in the future. The author argues that these technologies can make an important contribution to sustainable agricultural production. In order to harness their full potential, however, clear legal regulations on data ownership and the use of autonomous systems are needed as well as better education on how to handle Big Data.
