This publication comments on the decision of the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy to join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as founding members. The author argues that the move has dealt a blow to Western unity as it was not preceded by thorough transatlantic and intra-EU dialogue. In particular, it has angered Washington, which categorically refused to consider China's AIIB membership invitation.
