This publication provides an assessment of the institutions the EU has created to support and advance international crisis management. The author finds that the EU has established a comprehensive and sophisticated institutional structure for managing both civil and military crises. He also looks at NATO's framework for dealing with crisis management and contends that there is an urgent need for the EU and NATO to improve dialogue and cooperation in this area.
