This paper focuses on Turkey's policies towards the Uyghur Muslims living in China's Xinjiang region and the civil war raging in Syria, and their possible impact on Ankara's relations with Beijing. More specifically, the paper's author 1) looks at how Turkey responded to China's ban on government employees fasting during Ramadan; 2) contends that Ankara supports the Xinjiang region's secession from China; 3) suggests that Turkey is supporting anti-Assad groups in Syria that include Uyghur separatists, which could lead to downstream problems in Xinjiang; and 4) discusses how China could respond to the above policies, including supporting an independent Kurdistan.
