Within Crimea, what discriminatory and repressive policies has Russia adopted against those who opposed the annexation of the peninsula in March 2014? According to this report, increased physical harassment, criminal prosecutions, and the forced emigration of potentially “disloyal” groups has been part of Moscow’s kitbag of options. The targeted communities specifically include 1) indigenous Crimean Tatars, 2) those who have sought to report on the situation on the ground (journalists, civil society activists, and NGOs), and 3) holders of Ukrainian passports.
