This report prognosticates on the evolving nature of globalization, and its attendant risks, out to the year 2035. It argues that 1) the risk of conflict among the big powers is indeed growing; 2) conflicts between second-tier powers could spill over into nuclear war; 3) developing countries will increasingly drive the global economy; and 4) the global energy sector will continue to experience price and investment uncertainty. Given the potential depth and breadth of these challenges, and more, the report’s authors conclude that the creation of a new international order is all but inevitable.
