This report takes stock of current trade relations and activities in Africa. In particular, it 1) identifies the obstacles to economic diversification and growth on the continent; 2) explores the Africa-wide impact of collapsing commodity prices and China's economic slowdown; 3) considers the power of bilateral trade policies such as the US’ African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA); and 4) anticipates the influence of pending World Trade Organization (WTO) initiatives on Africa's states.
