This text focuses on the changing migration scenarios in and around the Mediterranean Basin and the debates that surround them. It particularly looks at the evolution of human mobility towards Mediterranean Europe over the past decades and analyzes the historical, demographic, economic, political and psycho-social dimensions of this phenomenon. Finally, the text assesses the role the EU plays in crafting long-term European migration policies and offers recommendations of its own.
