This paper contemplates the role gender norms play in international peace mediation. More specifically, the text's author 1) provides a new analytical framework to categorize and prioritize these norms more systematically; 2) uses the suggested framework to elucidate how gender norms play into mediation processes; 3) provides practical examples and insights on how mediators have navigated gender norms-mediation issues in the past; and 4) closes with recommendations for the future.
