This commentary looks at how militant Muslim groups in Southeast Asia have embraced the ideology of the so-called Islamic State, which has led them, in turn, to develop a “borderless” attitude towards their operations and allegiances. The text also discusses what the states in the region might do to respond to the threats posed by these groups.
