This paper examines US strategic challenges and policy options in the Gulf region. The contributors look at the issue of energy security in the Middle East and the impact of energy politics on US foreign and security policy. The paper analyzes the degree of US dependency on Gulf region oil and explores other international sources and alternatives for US energy needs.
