This paper discusses US strategic challenges and policy options in the Gulf region. The contributors examine the impact of unilateral sanctions imposed by the US on countries such as Iran and Iraq. The paper reviews the history of US unilateral sanctions in the region since the late 1970s and ponders the possibilities for the future.
