This report assesses the strategic importance of Central Eurasia to the US through analysis of the key threats and challenges to the region’s stability and the interests of other major powers. It then proposes feasible US policies toward the region in accordance with the broader strategic interests and goals of the US. While the primary focus is on Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, it also takes into account factors in neighboring areas — namely Iran, Afghanistan, Western China, North-Western Pakistan, Eastern Turkey and the North Caucasus.
