This paper discusses Pakistan's geopolitical importance for South and Central Asia. The author analyzes several threats in the region that involve the country such as the Kashimr conflict, the insurgency in Afghanistan and examines the risk of internal state collapse and the subsequent dangers of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. The paper concludes that the country is at a crossroad between a return to democracy and "Talibanization."
