This paper examines the prospect of a water conflict in the Nile Basin. The author argues that there is an ongoing dispute between several states that are dependent on the water the river supplies. He also argues that an open conflict could destabilize several regimes and negatively affect the security situation in the region. The author concludes that the potential for conflict around the use of the water of the Nile is significant and real.
