This issue of the Quarterly examines the impact of emerging technologies on US national security policies and practices. The featured articles focus on 1) the potential synergies that exist between neuroscience and engineering research; 2) advances in Brain-Machine Interfaces (BMIs); 3) the increasingly rapid development of biotechnology capabilities; 4) the possible impact of emerging technological change on future threats; 5) the opportunities presented by Additive Manufacturing (AM) to the defense sector; and 6) the future of artificial intelligence.
