In previous publications, this text’s author described the tensions in US-Sino relations as the beginning of a Thirty Years War (2018-2049). In this text, the author analyzes the implications Washington's arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou holds for these tensions. Key insights include 1) that China is convinced the arrest was an intentional provocation aimed to derail any agreement or understanding that could have been reached in Buenos Aires; 2) Beijing is now inclined to consider and analyze any development in the context of the new Thirty Years War; 3) whatever the real motives behind it, for Xi Jinping and his Forbidden City the arrest proves anew that the anti-US new Thirty Years War will have to markedly escalate even if at the cost of harming the trade negotiations with the US; and more.
