As the title suggests, this paper lays out a strategy the US could follow in order to help African countries manage and overcome existing threats to their security. Basically, the strategy’s broad objectives include economic prosperity and development, greater security and stability, and good governance. The four pillars on which these objectives rest include 1) ‘earned engagement’, 2) more realistic expectations, 3) effective partners and partnerships, and 4) flexible structures.
