President Donald Trump's strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia, initially announced on 21 August 2017, intended to highlight key elements of a roadmap that aimed at little short of the decimation of terrorism. However, this paper contends that this 'new' strategy is actually just a continuation of the ambiguous American trial and error method that has kept insurgent aspirations of victory alive since the US intervened in Afghanistan 16 years ago. So, what might this new policy mean for India as well as how New Delhi should approach Washington with regard to engagement in Afghanistan? In this text, the author responds.
