The text’s contributors specifically focus on 1) the current and evolving threats faced by African defense forces, partner states and external allies; 2) the new and revised patterns of armed conflict on the continent since 2010; 3) the strategic implications of these adjustments on governance and development, population and urban growth, and technology; 4) the rationale behind the US’ Security Governance Initiative; 5) the present status of the Ugandan, Rwandan and Burundian Armies; 6) the widespread impact of Libyan arms trafficking; and 7) Sayyed Ahmed Abdul Rahman’s experiences with the Sudanese Muslim Brothers. The edition also includes three book reviews and an interview with Ambassadors Princeton Lyman and Johnnie Carson.
