This paper 1) investigates the socio-political impact low oil prices will have on the economies of North Africa and the Middle East over the medium and long-term; 2) highlights the “wise” policy decisions oil producing states will have to make in order to prevent further regional economic turmoil; and 3) explores the role the EU can play to minimize the negative effects of low oil prices on both importing and exporting countries.
