This paper analyzes 1) the techniques peacebuilders use to build personal, ‘everyday’ relationships at the local level, and 2) how this form of social capital helps influence peacebuilding interventions. The text’s author substantiates his analysis by citing three types of corroborating data: the results of twenty-two peacebuilding interventions in the Republic of Macedonia; the insider perspective provided by HEKS/EPER, a Swiss NGO; and the outcomes of a global online survey.
