When it comes to weapons of mass destruction, what’s the status of global non-proliferation and disarmament efforts? To answer this question, the authors of this text update us on 1) the status of the UN’s system for non-proliferation and disarmament; 2) the initiatives that exist outside of the UN; and 3) the ‘hot button’ debates that currently dominate the field, including the gaps they are failing to fill. Last, the authors recommend specific steps the UN Secretary-General should take to revitalize the UN’s approaches to disarmament and non-proliferation.
