This policy brief compares the parliamentary intelligence and security review committee proposed in Canada’s Bill C-22 with the UK model it’s based on, with a particular emphasis on the wished-for body’s membership and mandate, power and resources, and transparency. The brief’s author ultimately concludes that although the committee’s credibility may be questionable, given the oversight powers the Canadian Government will retain over it, its appearance is nevertheless long overdue.
