This report argues that Israel is facing unprecedented pressure to halt all settlement activity, led by a new and surprisingly determined US administration. At the same time, the paper finds, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu faces intense domestic pressure from settlers and their allies. The report concludes that understanding how Israel might deal with these challenges requires an examination of its growing and increasingly powerful religious right.
