This issue includes four short analytical articles, four short field reports and a Caucasus news review. The first article sketches the scenario of a Central Asia dominated by Russia and China. The second looks at new models of development in post-war Georgia. The third looks at the turbulent year ahead in Armenia. The fourth examines Kazakhstan's education reform as a means for escaping the global economic meltdown. The first field report looks at the Armenia-Iran agreement on new communication projects. The second report identifies Salafism as a major security threat in Tajikistan. The third deals with parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan. The final report addresses fears of financial system collapse in Kazakhstan.
