This issue includes four short analytical articles, four short field reports and a Caucasus news review. The first article examines the disagreement between Russia and Turkmenistan over the Caspian coastal pipeline. The second explores water conflicts in Central Asia. The third looks at Russian-Chechen conflicts involving Putin, Kadyrov and economic ministries. The fourth article identifies obstacles to a successful civilian surge in Afghanistan. The first field reports looks at agricultural banks in Uzbekistan. The second studies the implications of the mayor elections in Yerewan. The third report discusses restrictions of religious freedoms in Tajikistan. Finally, the fourth examines the prevailing law and order situation in Fatwa and the Northwestern Frontier Province in Pakistan.
