This issue includes four short analytical articles, four short field reports and a Caucasus news review. The first article looks at Georgia and the role of the West. The second examines the growth of commercial exchanges between Central Europe and Central Asia. The third discusses China's 'peaceful rise' in Central Asia. The fourth article looks at statistics which reveal the bad state of schools in Kyrgyzstan. The first field report asks about the future role of Uzbekistan in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The second looks at Iran and Armenia tightening political and economic ties. The third reports Russian TV claiming that the US airbase in Manas, Kyrgyzstan, is used for global spying. Finally, the fourth report deals with a failed attempt to recover cotton production in Tajikistan.
